The invention provides an information system of a water distribution network. The information system comprises a network database for storing network information; a water volume/quality database for storing the flow and concentration of residual chlorine of the water distribution network from a service reservoir to a turncock; a network calculating component for calculating the concentration of residual chlorine in a normal pipeline and an abnormal pipeline; an important inspecting section appointing component for selecting a section with large abnormal degree based on a result of the network calculating component; a sensor capable of measuring the water quality and flow at least at the initial end and the tail end arranged in a section appointed by the important inspecting section appointing component; a updating plan making component for diagnosing the real abnormal degree of the pipeline according to a measured value of the sensor and a calculated value of the important inspecting section appointing component and making/changing a updating plan based on a diagnosed resu and a calculated result storing database for storing the results of the network calculating component, the important inspecting section appointing component, and the updating plan making component.
