PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pause application model selection apparatus that selects a proper pause application model from existing pause application models based on a value of perplexity by using a text with a pause label of a small amount of synthetic targets.SOLUTION: A pause application model selection apparatus of this invention comprises multiple language models and a pause application model selection unit. The multiple language models are constituted of sets of part of speech N-gram models and pause application models constructed by using the learning text of various domains. The pause application model selection unit uses text information for the pause application as input and calculates perplexity of the text information by using the part of speech N-gram model of each domain, and selects the pause application model corresponding to the domain of the smallest perplexity to output it as the preselected pause application model.
