PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce erroneous symbol timing synchronization (false synchronization, or no detection of synchronization), even under a poor radio wave condition.SOLUTION: A receiver, having a plurality of diversity branches, provides a plurality of symbol timing synchronization means for synchronizing symbol timings of orthogonal frequency division multiplex signals received by different antenna parts, respectively. Each of the symbol timing synchronization means informs other symbol timing synchronization means of a boundary timing between a short preamble and a long preamble, and performs symbol timing synchronization of the received orthogonal frequency division multiplex signals on the basis of a boundary timing detected by own means and a boundary timing detected by other symbol timing synchronization means.
