The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a submerged arc welding wire for high-strength 2.25Cr-1Mo-V steel, said submerged arc welding wire being capable of improving creep rupture strength without deteriorating toughness, temper embrittlement characteristics, SR cracking resistance and welding workability; and a weld metal. This welding wire is characterized by containing 0.11 to 0.18 mass% of C, 0.05 to 0.35 mass% of Si, 1.00 to 1.40 mass% of Mn, up to 0.015 mass% of P, up to 0.015 mass% of S, up to 0.07 mass% of Ni, up to 0.07 mass% of Co, 2.00 to 2.30 mass% of Cr, 0.90 to 1.20 mass% of Mo, up to 0.025 mass% of Ti, up to 0.025 mass% of Al, 0.33 to 0.43 mass% of V, 0.015 to 0.030 mass% of Nb, up to 0.05 mass% of W, and up to 0.0005 mass% of B, with the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities.
