Valuable medium processing apparatus and valuable-medium processing method

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage condition of new banknotes in an apparatus and output only appropriate new banknotes.SOLUTION: A valuable medium processing apparatus which transfers banknotes housed therein along a transfer path to eject to an ejection part comprises: a valuable medium housing part to house a valuable medium; a temporary reservoir part for temporary reservation of banknotes; a new banknote housing part to house new banknotes, which are unused banknotes; a money output determination part to check condition of banknotes fed from the new banknote housing part and to determine whether they can be output as new banknotes; and a control part which houses, in the temporary reservoir part, the banknotes regarded as not suitable for output by the money output determination part in new banknote output processing and, upon completion of the new banknote output processing, feeds the banknotes housed in the temporary reservoir part, returns banknotes reusable as new banknotes into the new banknote housing part, and houses banknotes not reusable as new banknotes in the valuable medium housing part.
