PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new diaminomaleonitrile polymer that has a -conjugated structure and is useful as an organic electronic material.SOLUTION: A diaminomaleonitrile polymer satisfies conditions of having (i) a maximum absorption wavelength in a range of 400-700 nm or (ii) absorption intensity at 600 nm of 0.20 in an ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrum in 0.01 mass% solution of the polymer polymerized in the presence of a specific solvent.
