A process for producing a raw material for papermaking, the process comprising subjecting aramid paper to a high-pressure jetting treatment to disintegrate the aramid paper into constituent materials, the aramid paper having been formed from fibrids, short fibers, or a mixture thereof which are formed from an aromatic polyamide and having been produced via calendering. According to this production process, aramid paper which has been calendered can be reutilized as a raw material for papermaking without requiring the use of a liquid chemical, etc.
