PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively calculate a backlash amount of a Z-axis direction drive mechanism 21 in a Z-axis direction in a machining center irrespective of a processing shape of a processing workpiece.SOLUTION: A main shaft 4 attached with a touch sensor 7 is relatively moved to a table 11 to a side in a Z-axis direction at which the touch sensor 7 approximates an inclined face 47 of a jig 41 by a Z-axis direction drive mechanism 21, after that, the touch sensor 7 is made to abut on the inclined face 47 by an X-axis direction drive mechanism 31, after that, a command for relatively moving the main shaft 4 to the table 11 by a prescribed amount to a side in the Z-axis direction at which the touch sensor 7 is separated from the inclined face 47 by a prescribed amount is outputted to the Z-axis direction drive mechanism 21, after that, the touch sensor 7 is made to abut on the inclined face 47 by the X-axis direction mechanism 31, a moving amount of the main shaft 4 or the table 11 in the X-axis direction which is moved at this time is calculated, and a backlash amount is calculated from a prescribed angle, the prescribed amount and the calculated moving amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
