The purpose is to manufacture, as a rubber composition that has improved wear resistance and workability and that is suitable for use as a rubber cover for the upper surface of a conveyor belt, a rubber composition containing: a rubber component containing 10 to 40 mass parts of natural rubber and 60 to 90 mass parts of butadiene rubber polymerized using a neodymium-based catalyst; and, in relation to 100 mass parts of the rubber component, 50 to 70 mass parts of carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 100 m2/g or above, 5 to 15 mass parts of silica, and 5 to 15 mass parts of a resin having a softening point of 120°C or below; no silane coupling agent being contained in the rubber composition. In addition, the purpose is to manufacture a conveyor belt using the rubber composition as a rubber cover.
