PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous spiral phase plate capable of generating an optical vortex of terahertz band, and an optical vortex generation method.SOLUTION: The continuous spiral phase plate is composed of olefin polymer resin having transmissivity in a terahertz band. The thickness of a step part is preferably 1 μm or more and 500 μm or less. An optical vortex generation method related to the one other aspect includes irradiating the continuous spiral phase plate composed of olefin polymer resin having transmissivity in a terahertz band with a laser beam in a terahertz wavelength range to generate an optical vortex.
