PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing, in a competition net to be used in a volleyball game or the like, the adjustment of the tension of a net rope so as to be a prescribed tension that is preliminarily set and appropriate, and to provide a support device for the adjustment.SOLUTION: When a central upper edge S is depressed by a predetermined drop distance L while a net rope holds a standard tension and the central upper edge S of a net is at a predetermined height H, conditions are set such that an upward force to be established at the central upper edge S is defined as a standard tensile load. In the states where the rope holds a reference tension T and where the central upper edge S of the net is set at the predetermined height H, the tension adjustments of the net rope are performed by dropping the central upper edge S at a distance corresponding to the predetermined drop distance L, and an upward actually measured tension load RX to occur at the central upper edge S of the net in that state is measured and displayed. The actually measured tension load RX is compared with the standard tensile load, and the tension is added to or subtracted from the net rope until the displayed actually measured tension load RX becomes the standard tensile load.
