An interactive graphical user interface based on gestures for video style editing on a smartphone or camera with a touch screen is disclosed. The method and apparatus edits video and changes video effects on a mobile device. The system allows the user to change the video effect on the mobile device through the use of gestures. Hierarchical editing is foreseen, for example, a first level such as color and brightness, and a second level such as an editing theme or editing style. When a user changes a video effect with a gesture, the change is applied to the video at the same time to provide graphical feedback to the user.
