Provided is an overwrite method whereby, when carrying out CAN reprogramming upon a plurality of ECUs, the time to overwrite a program is reduced by overwriting the program in parallel without interposing an intermediary device such as a gateway. A program overwrite system (1000) has a configuration wherein an overwrite device (100) and one or more ECUs to be overwritten (200a, 200b, 200c) are connected over the same network bus (300). Using a predetermined specific ID, the overwrite device (100) transmits data simultaneously to all of the ECUs to be overwritten. Using device identification data, the ECUs to be overwritten generate respectively different IDs, and transmit the data by the IDs to the overwrite device.
