PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oligonucleotide probe for specific detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and a method for detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis by using the probe.SOLUTION: The problem is solved by an oligonucleotide probe comprised of a sequence of a specified region of Mycobacterium 16S rRNA or its gene, or a complementary sequence thereto, also by a method for detecting the rRNA utilizing the probe, a first primer and a second primer, where the first primer has a sequence homologous to a part of the rRNA region, and the second primer has a sequence complementary to the part of the rRNA region.
