The node (2) has electronic card (9) to aggregate traffic coming from access networks (8). A transmitter (16) received electronic signal from electronic card and transmits optical packet to metropolitan area network (1). A circulator extracts stream of multiplexed optical packets from optical link (3) and inserts stream of multiplexed optical packets into he optical link. A reflective switching matrix (7) receives stream of multiplexed optical packets sent by circulator to select optical packets and to detect selected optical packets intended to be sent to access network.
