A particulate material is provided which is coated with an acid as a catalyst for activating and curing an organic binder for binding the particulate material. The acid includes at least one of sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfonic acids, and carboxylic acids, and includes a mixture of sulfuric acid and other acids, phosphoric acid alone and phosphoric acid and other acids, sulfonic acid alone and sulfonic acids and others. Or a mixture of carboxylic acids with other acids.
