The Rankine cycle device (20) includes a pump (23), an evaporator (24), an expander (21), and a condenser (22). The evaporator (24) has a plurality of heat transfer tubes (28) arranged in a plurality of stages in the flow direction of the high temperature fluid to be heat exchanged with the working fluid. Of the plurality of heat transfer tubes (28), the heat transfer tube (28) located at the most upstream stage in the flow direction of the high temperature fluid is defined as the most upstream heat transfer tube (28 k). For example, the most upstream heat transfer pipe (28 k) forms the inlet of the evaporator (24) so that the working fluid flowing into the evaporator (24) first flows through the uppermost heat transfer pipe (28 k).
