PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unconventional covert technique capable of, on the basis of a new technological principle, determining that a medium and an article to which the medium is adhered are genuine ones and, when a particular phenomenon cannot be observed, that the medium and the article are ingenuine forged article or a counterfeit.SOLUTION: A forgery prevention medium has: a structure reflection layer which has inclination and in which angles of inclined planes to the plane direction of the structure reflection layer are different from each other partially in the plane of the structure reflection layer; and a retardation layer which is provided on a side of the structure reflection layer where the structures are formed, and a pattern concealment layer which is provided on a plane on the opposite side from a plane of the retardation layer in contact with the structure reflection layer.
