The present invention relates to diagnostic methods and diagnostic tools . In particular , the present invention is for diagnosing whether at risk of pregnancy the subject will develop within preeclampsia short , the method comprising : a) a first and a second sample of the subject determining the amount of the biomarker sFlt-1 or endoglin and PlGF of ; the time, the first sample has been obtained before the second sample ; b) sFlt-1 or a endoglin was determined in the first sample the first ratio of the amounts of PlGF, and calculating a second ratio from the amount of the determined sFlt-1 or endoglin and PlGF in the second sample; and c) comparing the value of the first ratio and the second ratio is , thus , value of the second ratio and if compared with the value of the first ratio increases to at least about 3 times , is diagnosed as at risk for a subject to develop pre-eclampsia within a short period of time .
