A hydrocarbon producing vessel provided with means for separating hydrocarbons into gaseous hydrocarbons and non-gaseous hydrocarbons and a method of operation of the present invention relates to a hydrocarbon producing vessel, the vessel being adapted to be connected to at least one riser pipe for the transport of hydrocarbons from a seabed well towards the vessel, wherein the vessel comprises a separation station for separating hydrocarbons into gaseous and non-gaseous hydrocarbons, storage area for storing hydrocarbons and processing means for processing at least part of the hydrocarbons, wherein the vessel comprises a positioning system for controlling the position and orientation of the vessel with respect to the seabed, wherein the positioning system comprises a position system dynamic steering (dp) which allows control of the position and orientation of the vessel with respect to the seabed without the use of anchor lines, wherein the dp system is adapted to be driven by at least a gaseous portion of the hydrocarbons separated at the separation station.
