The present invention relates to a smoking article, comprising a filter, the filter comprising: a plug of filter material having a longitudinally extending surface; a wrapper wrapped around the longitudinally extending surface of the plug; and a menthol patch realized on an inner surface of said wrapper facing said longitudinally extending surface of said plug, wherein the menthol patch is applied to the wrapper and the plug is attached to the wrapper by means of the menthol patch before the wrapper is closed around the filter material.
