The present invention relates to a polyester composition suitable for packaging food and beverage, the composition of polyester obtained by combining: (a) 90 to 97% by weight of a thermoplastic polyester selected from polyethylene terephthalate, naphthalene D. And polyethylene, and mixtures thereof, and (b) 2 to 6% by weight of MXD6, (c) 1 to 5000 ppm of a salt of cobalt, (d) 0.1 - 1000 ppm ethylene glycol (eg), and (E) 0.1 to 1000 ppm of pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA).
