A device for diagnosing slow-running rolling-contact bearings formed by a frame (5) in which a shaft (1) is mounted on which shaft bearings (2) are diagnosed and mounted in a reference member (3) which is rotatably mounted in bearings ( 4) with respect to the frame (5), the position sensor (6) connected to the frame (5) being connected to the reference member (3), by means of which bearing damage (2, 4) is signaled at an early stage. In an alternative embodiment, the reference member (3) is coupled to an alternative drive (7) with higher, predefined speeds than the shaft speed (1), whereby by measuring the vibrations induced on the frame (5) near the bearings (2, 4), a defined the frequency spectrum amplitude indicating the bearing damage condition (2, 4).
