The method of utilizing the residual heat of combustion products is intended for combustion products whose initial temperature is higher than the temperature of the dew point and which contain aggressive compounds, particularly combustion products with the solid-fuel boiler. These combustion products blow the process water for the transmission of thermal energy of the combustion products to the process water in order to heat the process water to a temperature not exceeding the boiling point of the process water at the given atmospheric and pressure conditions of the environment. The pH of the process water is adjusted for neutralizing the corrosive effects of the aggressive condensing compounds of the combustion products. The process water heated by the combustion products transfers its heat to the cooling water for its heating and thus cooled process water is returned into the combustion products flow for collecting the thermal energy from these combustion products. The device for performing the method includes the contact heat exchanger (1) for heat transfer from the combustion products to the process water whose combustion products inlet (8) is connected to the outlet of combustion products from a solid fuel boiler and/or a combustion device containing aggressive combustion products for routing the combustion products through the contact heat exchanger (1). Opposite the combustion products inlet (8), there is the inlet (7) of the process water for contact reception of heat from the combustion products in the contact heat exchanger (1). The outlet (14) of the process water of the contact heat exchanger (1) is connected to the inlet (10) of the process water of the second heat exchanger (6) for heat transfer from the process water to the cooling water, while the outlet (9) of the process water from the second heat exchanger (6) is connected to the inlet (7) of the process water of the contact heat exchanger (1). The circuit of the process water is connected to the mechanism (5) for replenishing alkali into the process water in order to maintain the pH of the process water at a level allowing neutralization of the corrosive effects of acids produced during condensation of the combustion products.
