INTERLEUKIN-2 / INTERLEUKIN-2 ALFA RECEPTOR SLIT PROTEINS AND METHODS OF APPLICATION

There are various methods and compositions that can be used to modulate the immune system. The compositions include a fusion protein comprising (a) a first polypeptide containing interleukin-2 (IL-2) or a functional variant or fragment thereof; and (b) a second polypeptide fused within the reading frame with the first polypeptide, the second polypeptide containing the extracellular domain of the interleukin-2 alpha receptor (IL-2Rα) or its functional variant or fragment, and the fusion protein is characterized by IL-2 activity. Various methods are provided for modulating an immune response in a subject, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of the IL-2 / IL-2Rα fusion protein disclosed herein.
