HETEROGENEOUS MGO CATALYSTS FOR INCREASED BIODIESEL PRODUCTION

Novelty: a specific method for the synthesis of magnesium oxides in the presence of polyvinyl alcohol and use of said oxides as heterogeneous catalysts for extremely-increased biodiesel (98%) production is disclosed. Technical properties: the materials in use are previously heated at 400, 600 and 900 degrees Celcius, have the MgO structure and are non-porous with small special surfaces. The prepared oxides are used in the heterogeneous diesel production via reaction of rapeseed oil with methanol at 70 deg. Celcius. Heated up at 400 and 600 deg. Celcius, the MgO oxides are very effective catalysts with yield in methyl ester production equal to 98.5 and 97.7%, after 8 hours of reaction. Embodiment: these oxides can be industrially utilized in the biodiesel preparation and are very strong in comparison to respective basic heterogeneous MgO-based catalysts.
