MULTI-COMPARTMENTED STORAGE STRUCTURE FOR STORING EXPLOSIVES UPTO 5 TON NEC HD 1.1 PER COMPARTMENT

The invention relates to a multi-compartmented storage structure for storing explosives having mass explosion hazard upto 5 ton NEC HD 1.1 per compartment. In one embodiment, the structure 100 comprises a first storage compartment 101 and a second storage compartment 102. The said first storage compartment 101 is located proximate/near/adjacent to the second compartment 102. The first storage compartment is built on a first platform /raft 103 and a second storage compartment is built on a second platform/raft 104 wherein said first platform raft is physically separated 105 from said second platform/raft 104.In the instance of explosion in one compartment, the discontinuous platform provided in the above structure reduces ground shock wave propagation from one compartment to adjacent compartments. The first storage compartment is separated from adjacent storage compartment by predetermined configuration of sand-air-sand for arresting primary/secondary fragments and attenuating blast pressure generated due to detonation of explosive in compartment. As a result, minimum or no damage is experienced by adjacent compartments due to explosion in one compartment.
