Passengers face challenges as far as accessing the public transportation buses as they needed. As far as the static scheduling of buses is considered, there is problem of late arrival of buses. Also, passengers have to wait for the Bus which they want, without any prior information of late arrival of bus. Passenger counting is required for the passengers safety and comfort. This problem can be overcome by using dynamic scheduling of buses with the help of GPS and GSM. Along with these the bus identification is also required so that passenger will come to know about the exact bus they require. This project relates the identification of a particular bus using RFID technology and also the counting of passengers inside the bus using image processing . The system adopts the technical scheme that the passenger number information acquisition device that is camera over here, which is situated behind the driver's seat and that camera, will capture video of the passengers in bus. And that video is given to controller which gives output as number of passengers in bus. Also as the bus reaches at any bus stop, certain numbers of passengers unboard the bus and to update that count, comparison is done between two frames of a video after boarding and before boarding and will generate a final count. This final count is send over GSM to next Bus stop so that passenger will come to know that the bus which they want is arriving within how many minutes and it is overcrowded or not.
