Agni Rodhak Ghol (Fire Resistant Solution) Idea or Concept Invention I, am Prof. Rani Azad, Dean, Faculty of Science Patna University and I am a teacher of Chemistry at Magadh Mahila College. The invention of this (Fire Resistant Solution) has been done by me in my chemical laboratory after an idea given by my son who is in armed forces to create some solution which can be applied on cotton cloths to make it fire proof for all the personals involved in firefighting and the personals of our defense forces as well as their tents which are used as make shift cook houses in field or exercise area. We are aware of some naturally occurring chemicals e.g. Potash Alum Borex etc which may be used for fireproofing and also as mordant in dyeing. These natural compounds are used as antiseptics also. We tried to convert the knowledge into some practice and after some steps/ trials this solution was prepared. For better result natural gum obtained from some herbal plants are also added to it. The experiment was successful and was also successfully tried by some Army personnel for its feasibility in field conditions. We dissolved Potash Alum, Borex, Boric Acid, Ammonium Sulphate, Ammonium Carbonate etc in water and found that when the proportionate amount was mixed with some mordant and natural gum, then a solution was made which when applied over cotton cloths by soaking could convert that cloth fire resistant after drying. Since the chemicals / materials used when dissolved were endothermic hence the heat of fire may be absorbed by the solution-applied over the cloth and it resisted the fire. This Invention could not only be used to make fire proof clothing for all personals involved in fire fighting but may also be used by our army personals to prepare fire proof tents in field areas which are otherwise highly prone to fire hazards. The fire resistant cooking aprons, curtains, tents or pandals may also be created after the cloth is soaked/sprayed with the solution and dried.
