The present invention discloses provides a system and a method for human computer interaction through vision using an ordinary web camera, wherein the system automatically detects gestures through vision using an ordinary web camera and generates corresponding action sequence in a computing device by an image processing technique. The human computer interaction system comprises of at least one computing device having an ordinary inbuilt or attachable web camera for capturing user™s gestures as an image and a human computer interaction engine for converting user™s gestures into key strokes or action sequence programmatically. Further the system can enables an user to navigate mouse, virtual keyboard by the user™s gestures. Further, the system enables the user to process photos, surfing on internet, and to operate a media player and so on, based on user™s gestures.
