An. air conditioner is a device that lowers the air temperature. The cooling is typically achieved through a refrigeration cycle but sometimes evaporation or free cooling is used. In the most general sense, air conditioning can refer to any form of technology that modifies the condition of air (heating, cooling, de-humidification, cleaning, ventilation, or air movement). However, in construction such a complete system of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning is referred to as HVAC (as opposed to AC). Most of the air conditioning system based on vapor compression system is to run on refrigerant R22. This system is focused on energy saving and sustainable development in air conditioner by sub cooling and super heating process. In this Two indoor units (evaporator coils) are run by a single outdoor unit (condenser, compressor). Distribution of refrigerant to two evaporator units is carried out by electrically operated solenoid valves and separate expansion device is mounted for each indoor unit. Heat exchanger is to be introduced between indoor and outdoor units to increase the coefficient of performance of the air conditioning system and save energy consumed by the system. The performance of split air conditioner is measured with and without heat exchanger by the process of both sub cooling and super heating. The observed readings and calculations are shown that energy consumption of compressor in outdoor unit power consumption is reduced by 10.43%. Coefficient of performance of this split air conditioning system gives 18.18% higher performance with heat exchanger.
