SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SYSTEMATICALLY PENALIZING DRIVERS WHO FAIL TO STOP AT A CROSSWALK

Systems and methods are provided for systematically penalizing drivers who fail to stop at crosswalk (300) on different circumstances. The system and method generally employ a sensor (600) to detect a vehicle (400) approaching the crosswalk (300) and ambient conditions. The sensor (600) may collect information about the speed and any changes in speed of the vehicle(400) approaching. An image capture device (100) may be used to identify any passengers (200) waiting to cross or actively crossing within the crosswalk (300). The analyzer (700) processes the information and determines if a fine should be levied upon the vehicle (400) approaching the crosswalk (300). The analyzer (700) may also determine the magnitude of the fine that is to be issued. An additional camera for sensing vehicle speed may be placed at the crosswalk (300) to obtain further information to properly assess a fine.
