The present invention relates to determination of feasibility of biomass power plant and primary nutrient content present in the soil with an electronic device invented for this purpose. In the present invention, biomass energy generation from agricultural residue can be checked for economic feasibility by testing the residue for its nutrients and energy potential. The soil sample testing can also be performed at site with minimum skill and knowledge. For biomass feasibility and soil sample analysis residue or soil sample is tested in dry test condition at site. Initially electrical properties and weight of the sample is measured with the help of the device and compared with stored database relating NPK values with electrical properties. Nearest match of electrical properties of the sample under test with the database is utilized to estimate NPK values of the sample. According to the output (N, P and K) values and a cost- benefit analysis based on stored database, the biomass feasibility from residue sample and soil health is determined. Thus the present invention, an electronic device, would serve as a decision making tool to determine economic feasibility of agricultural residue, estimation of soil health and propose fertilizer recommendation for crops.
