The present invention relates to a quantitative method of determining the external corrosion failure likelihood in deep water production ducts. The primary purpose is to determine the number of faults associated with external corrosion in deep water production ducts which compromise the correct operation of the duct. Said invention arises from the need of a solution to the lack of a scientific tool that allows knowing the conditions of deep water production ducts and, based on the probability of failure results, to efficiently address economic resources in order to plan maintenance, operation and safety strategies that help reduce and/or control external corrosion. The proposed method is of quantitative type and enables the use of dynamic segmentation, design data, operation and effectiveness of the mitigations employed. The dynamic segmentation technique acquires the principle of generating a new segment every time that some of the variables, attributes, conditions or characteristics change in value.
