CAVITATION SYSTEM FOR COLLECTING PHYCOCYANINE-RICH EXTRACTS.

The cavitation system for collecting phycocyanin breaks the microalgae or cyanobacteria cell wall or membrane to obtain phycocyanine of the Arthrospira genus biomass protein fraction. Said cavitation system consists of a cavitation module formed by a motor at a speed of 2000 to 5000 revolutions per minute, whose function is to move a cavitator. Furthermore, the cavitator is attached to the motor by a stainless steel shaft. One of the novels of the system is the feature of 28 rod-shaped curved propeller blades arranged in two concentric circles of 14 pieces each, towards the periphery of the circle. The aforementioned rod-shape traps the culture medium along with the microalgae or cyanobacteria supplied by the inlet of the cavitation module. The high revolutions per minute generated in the system boost the liquid rapidly towards the cavitator circular wall, creating low-pressure zones causing the cavitation phenomenon.
