The decarbonation and desulfurization of a combustion fume (1) is carried out, in the unit A, by placing the combustion fume in contact with an aqueous solution comprising N,N,N',N'-tetramethylhexane-1,6-diamine. The acid compound-loaded absorbent solution 3 is regenerated in a regeneration area R so as to release gaseous CO2 then submitting at least part of the regenerated absorbent solution to a sulfur oxide extraction operation in the unit P so as to obtain a sulfur oxide-depleted absorbent solution.
