THE FORMULATION OF FOAM BASED ON COLOPHONY HAS BEEN DEVELOPED IN AN ANALOGUE TO THE PROCESS OF MANUFACTURE OF POLYURETHANE FOAM. THE NON-VOLTAGE DYERPENIC ACIDS OF THE PINHEIRO CONSTITUTE WHICH IT IS COMMERCIALLY KNOWN BY COLOPHONIES OR, MORE PRECISELY, BY COLOPHONY ACIDS, ONCE CONTAINING THE CARBOXYLIC ACID FUNCTIONAL GROUP. PINE RESIN CONTAINS IN ITS PRIMARY COMPOSITION AN ALIPHATIC RING, ABYATIC ACID, WHICH, IN CONTACT WITH THE ISOCYANATE, CONDUCTS THE RELEASE OF CARBON DIOXIDE RESULTING IN A FINAL PRODUCT THAT HAS THE STRUCTURE OF AN OPENED CELLULOSE FOAM. THE REACTIONS OF RESIN WITH THE ISOCYANATE HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT IN THE ABSENCE OF CATALYST BUT THE PRESENCE OF ETHANOL AND WATER MAJORLY IMPROVE THE KINETICS OF FOAM FORMATION.
