The subject matter of the invention is the design of dual-use device, which can operate as a laboratory device and also as a pilot plant, for performing wet magnetic separation tests (mineral pulps, ceramic barbotines and pastes, etc.), such that the same parameters are used when the device is operating as a pilot plant as were defined during testing performed when the device was being used as a laboratory device (i.e. magnetic field intensity that is stable over time and independent of the operating temperature; fluid passage speed, matrix type and dimensions, etc.) are used, and such that the only differential variable between the two devices is the change in the cross-sectional area of the matrix that performs the magnetic separation, providing reliable scaling from the laboratory device to the pilot plant and thus ensuring scaling from the pilot plant to an industrial device according to the needs of the market.
