The invention relates to a high-performance compacted ceramic material comprising between 45%-85% by weight of glassy phase, characterized in that it has a density comprised between 2.3 and 3.0 g/cm3. This material has a high mechanical resistance and allows being shaped into slabs having large dimensions for use thereof as a building material, particularly in coverings, floors or kitchen countertops.
