System and method for water quality control in water treatment facilities, comprising: - means for the admission of a water sample, - an electrochemical cell (2) for analysis of the admitted water sample, - at least one tank (3, 4, 5) comprising a solution for cleaning the electrochemical cell (2) and that is linked thereto (2), - control means (20) for communication with the means for admission of the water sample, with the electrochemical cell (2) and with the cleaning tanks (3, 4, 5), the control means (20) sending a signal to the means for admission of a water sample and to the electrochemical cell (2) to analyse the sample taken and to send a signal with the results for the analysed sample.
