A three-dimensional nanocomposite material comprising a polymeric matrix consisting of at least one neutral or anionic, neutral, thermotropic or thermo-liotropic polysaccharide, and a metal-based nanocomposite consisting of at least one cationic branched polysaccharide that uniformly traps metallic nanoparticles, wherein the neutral or anionic polysaccharide gels by means of suitable chemical or physical gelling agents.
