A process for desulphurization of low-medium range coal comprising the steps of: a) providing low-medium range carbon; b) leaching said carbon in an aqueous solution comprising 10 to 20% by weight of potassium hydroxide, for a period of 4 to 8 hours at a temperature of less than 100 ° C; c) wash and filter the leached coal in this way; d) leaching the carbon in an aqueous solution comprising from 2 to 30% in vol. of hydrogen peroxide, for a period of 2 to 6 hours at a temperature of 60 to 90 ° C; and e) wash and filter the carbon obtained in this way.
