Modification of codewords in dictionary used for efficient coding of spectral data of digital medium

An audio coding method comprising: transforming an input audio signal into a set of spectral coefficients; encoding a base portion of the set of spectral coefficients in the output bitstream band; dividing an extended band of the spectral coefficients in various subbands; rescale the various subbands in the extended band; transforming at least one codeword from a library of code words; comparing the set of spectral coefficients of a subband to at least a few words from the library of transformed code; coding the spectral coefficients of the subband in a bit stream output comprising coding an identifier of one or more codewords from the library and an identifier transformer.
