Treatment of peripheral vascular disease using postpartum derived cells

Postpartum derived cells derived from blood-free human umbilical cord tissue, for use in the treatment of a patient who has peripheral ischemia, in which the cells: are able to self-renew and expand in culture; they have the potential to differentiate into cells of at least one phenotype of skeletal muscle, vascular smooth muscle, pericyte or vascular endothelium; require L-valine for growth; they can grow in at least about 5% oxygen; they have an increased expression of interleukin 8 and reticulon 1 in relation to a human cell that is a fibroblast, a mesenchymal stem cell or a bone marrow cell of the iliac crest; produce CD10, CD13, CD44, CD73 and CD90; and they don't produce CD45 and CD117.
