A network component (210) for classifying at least one traffic flow for an efficient and quality service performance in a network (100, 104, 106); wherein the network component is configured to define the traffic flow as an Internet protocol flow, IP, further comprising the network component (210): - detection means configured to detect (3010) at least one IP flow from at least one IP packet, - means of obtaining, after the detection of the at least one IP stream, configured to obtain (3020) predefined information of the at least one IP packet to determine a quality of service requirement that is associated with the less an IP packet; and - creation means configured to create (3030) at least one other IP flow upon obtaining the predefined information, by (3040) multiplexing a plurality of IP packets with the same quality of service requirement in the at least one other IP flow or the demultiplexing of the plurality of IP packets with different quality of service requirements in other IP flows, each of the other traffic flows having a different quality of service requirement; - in which the detection means and the creation means perform the respective detection (3010) and creation (3030) of the at least one IP flow in an IP convergence sublayer (210), located above a control layer media access, MAC, (208) in a protocol stack.
