Method and apparatus for increasing traffic handling performance of an elevator system

A method for increasing the performance management traffic elevator car in an elevator system comprising an elevator car and a drive motor wherein the drive motor has a power that is required for driving the elevator according to a design speed profile when a full load on the drive motor, the method characterized by: measuring the actual load on the elevator for a particular trip; determining whether the actual load is a partial load on the drive motor; calculating an optimized speed profile for the trip, the velocity profile being optimized a function of the power of the drive motor and the actual load and has a maximum speed greater than the speed profile design maximum speed; comparing (i) the high speed optimized speed profile, (ii) a maximum speed attainable for the distance traveled, and (iii) a maximum speed achievable with mechanical equipment system; choosing the lowest speed of the comparison; and program the drive motor to run the optimized speed profile for the trip, in which the optimized speed profile uses the lowest speed.
