EXTRACTS FROM PLANTS OF THE TSUGA GENUS AND USES THEREOF IN THE TREATMENT OF INFLAMMATION, IRRITATION AND/OR INFECTION

Extracts derived from plants of theTsuga genus having anti-inflammatory and anti~ micro-bialproperties are provided. The Tsuga extracts aresuitable for the treatment of inflammation, irritationand/or infection. For example, for the treatment of der-matologicalconditions with an associated inflammatorycomponent or infection; for combating the irritant or in-flammatoryeffects of other skin treatment compounds;for combating the irritant or inflammatory effects of en-vironmentalfactors; for treating obesity-related skinproblems (for example, inflammation, redness, erythe-ma,rashes and/or bacterial infections caused by skinfolds); for combating the irritant or inflammatory effectsof, or infection due to, exfoliation, laser treatments orhair removal; for treating irritation, inflammation and/orinfection associated with diaper rash; for incorporationinto dermatological formulations for sensitive skins, andfor providing a preservative effect to dermatologicalformulations, as well as for ameliorating the dermato-logicaleffects of ageing.
