This invention discloses a method and a system to achieve an integration of in-situ dewatering andconsolidation of fluid tailings, and treatment of tailings water in tailingspond. The said methodcomprises multi-steps, including: a) installing floating working platforms forinstallation oftreatment units of the treatment system, b) using gas flotation unit forbitumen removal and pHadjustment in fluid tailings, c) using submerged filtration unit for in-situdewatering andconsolidation of fluid tailings, in-situ deposition of consolidated tailingsto the bottom of tailingspond, and in-situ recovery of tailings water, d) using in-situ flocculationand thickening unit forultrafine tailings treatment and in-situ deposition, and e) using watertreatment unit for tailings watertreatment and in-situ waste disposal. The in-situ integration of the treatmentunits provides a cost-effectiveprocess to speed up tailings pond reclamation and water recovery from tailingspond.
