Disclosed are an artificial intelligence medical suction device and a method for controlling an artificial intelligence medical suction device. The present invention is enabled by a control unit performing the steps of: setting the aspiration pressure of an aspirating pump connected to a catheter as specific reference aspiration pressure; driving the catheter forward so that an aspirating end of the catheter is inserted into the respiratory system; and analyzing the state of the aspirating end of the catheter on the basis of the change value of actual aspirating pressure measured from the catheter. According to the present invention, the medical suction device can self-determine whether the catheter is adsorbed onto the inner wall of the bronchial tube, thereby preventing situations in which additional pain is caused to the patient by the aspirating end of the catheter being adsorbed on the inner wall of the bronchial tube.
