The invention relates to a set of biomarkers for the diagnosis of salivary gland neoplasms wherein said set consists of at least four markers selected from the group of hsa-miR-449b, hsa-miR-374, hsa-miR-411, hsa-miR-599, hsa-miR-1285, hsa-miR-324-5p and hsa-miR-449a, a method for diagnosing the benign or malignant status of a salivary gland tumor and methods for screening for pharmaceuticals for the treatment of (malignant) salivary gland tumors.
